The National Critical Infrastructure Key Resources Group (NCIKRG) was founded to strengthen public and private sector critical infrastructure, public safety, security, emergency and critical incident management on a day to day basis or in the event of a technological incident, terrorist attack, natural disaster, or any other significant critical incident affecting critical infrastructure (CI) and key resources (KR) within the eighteen critical sectors of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP).
The National Critical Infrastructure Key Resources Group provides the services to integrate and coordinate the nation's private and public sector CIKR protection objectives. The ability to manage risks, identify and deter threats, mitigate vulnerabilities, and minimize and manage consequences is key to the safety and security of our national critical infrastructure and key resources.
NCIKRG team members are subject matter experts, field operations specialists and emergency managers who assist public agencies and the private sector in developing and implementing strategies to provide greater security and resiliency to critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR). Our team provides clients with an understanding of security needs, vulnerabilities, consequences and methods to craft a cogent, executable emergency plan, incident action plans, public/private-sector emergency response, recovery plans and interagency agreements. The goal is to share resources and expertise on a local, regional, statewide and national basis to improve, solidify and integrate response and recovery efforts for the betterment of the public good, private sector and first responders.
NCIKRG skill sets include plan development, asset inventory and assessment, private and public sector threat and risk assessment, critical infrastructure analysis, critical incident and emergency management training, enhancement of sector and subsector resiliency, force protection, infrastructure and facility protection and personnel safety using a Critical Asset Assessment Team (CAAT) approach to classify assets and identify potential vulnerabilities and solutions.
Any significant critical incident will require private sector, federal, state, and local government involvement before, during and after the incident. It is essential to establish effective coordination at each and every level to insure real time continuity of operations, effective response and recovery efforts, and continuity of government.
NCIKRG concepts of operation are consistent with the policy direction established in the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP), the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7 (HSPD-7), the National Strategy for the Physical Protection of Critical Infrastructures and Key Assets and the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace.
